Information
Dear Parents/Guardians,
Welcome back to a new school year!
We hope that everyone had enjoyed a fun-filled and relaxing
summer!
At the beginning of the academic session 2019-2020, we will endeavour to maintain an environment that is
conducive to learning for our students, staff, and parents. A unique and
supportive learning environment that promotes positive relationship develops
personal responsibility and acquiring 21st century skills.
We perceive the imperative significance of the relationship between staff and
parents, your partnership and support are key elements to ensure that we are
able to maximize each student’s educational and personal development. To that end, we encourage a positive
home-school relationship based on the mutual goal of providing the best
learning experience possible for all of our students.
Our talented faculty brings a diverse set of approaches to
instruction in order to address a variety of student learning styles. We believe that all students can learn and achieve. We
are working smarter to help all students meet or exceed the grade-level expectations
in all areas. Our goal is to ensure that all students reach high levels of
success. We will continue to sustain a learning environment that will encourage
active learning, positive social interactions, and self-motivation. My
staff and I hope all of our students will SOAR TO SUCCESS!
We request you to kindly note the
following details:

1.
School gates will be closed at 8:00
am. Thereafter, no student/teacher/visitor will be allowed inside the Campus.
Parents are requested not to meet the teachers in the classrooms.
2.
The visiting hours of the Section
are from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm – Monday to Thursday.(Prior appointment is
required). Please call to make an appointment at 021-35842293.
3.
Parents are requested to communicate with us through the homework diary
in case of any query.
4.
Parents/Drivers are requested to bring the student’s ID card at
dispersal time to avoid any inconvenience.
5.
Students are to be dressed properly in the school uniform. Please refer
to the code of conduct.
6.
A team of teachers in the rotation has been detailed separately to
monitor the students in the school playground, canteen area, rear boundary wall, and other sensitive areas during the break time and immediately after school
hours. Teachers are also on duty with the van students to ensure proper
dispersal after the school gets over.
7.
Girls will use Gate 2 only.
Attendance
Please
make sure that your child attends the school daily. In case of being absent
please inform the school. At least 90% attendance is expected in a term.
Homework
A
proper homework schedule is planned for the students according to the policy.
The given homework will be the reinforcement of work done in the class/school.
It is an opportunity for the students to work independently, to research and
extend their learning. Parents are requested to keep a check for the completion
of the task. Homework schedule will be written in the school diary.

Class Learning (Coursework)
Class
learning includes all class activities, projects, and assessments, that build a
picture of a students' performance over time.

Regular
independent activities are undertaken in the class which are completed and
marked/ assessed/ observed during class.

Learning (Project)
Project
work is investigative learning. One
project is assigned for each subject.

Class
Learning (Assessment)
Class
assessments will be held for all the subjects. Class tests will be given at a suitable point in the course at teachers' discretion.
Assessment and Examination
The
two major components of formal assessment in The City School are
Examinations and Course work.
Two
tests of 30 marks will be taken in a term, marks allocation is as per the
following table.

Computing Assessment
In
computing students will be assessed on the skills that they will display
through class performance and project work.
At
end of the term one formal IT integrated project will be taken and marks will
be recorded for students’ report cards.
Examinations
Mid
Year Examination is held in the First Term (December) and End of Year
Examination is held in the Second Term (May).
