Darakhshan Campus

The 3rd Annual Talent Week 2016 was held from January 25 to 28, 2016, carving a niche in the skill development programme of Darakhshan Campus. Not only has it become a way to boost the self-esteem, confidence, and assurance of the learners, it also has been effective in identifying their hidden talents and abilities. It provides a platform for our learning community to channelize their energies to work in a continuum towards excellence.

The Talent Week comprises, the Qira’at, Na’at, Elocution, Singing and Story Writing contests. The formal opening of the Talent Week 2016 was done with Qira’at Competition hosted by the Senior Boys Section on January 25, 2016. This event brought together our brightest students in Qira’at who recited verses of the Holy Qur’an. The judges invited were Hafiz AltafHussain and Hafiz WahabRaza.

The next was Na’at Competition held on January 26, 2016, the Prep Boys Section had the honour of hosting this event, which provided an opportunity to our students for recalling the teachings and personality of the Holy Prophet (SAW) worthy of emulation.  Mr. Muhammad Shahzad and Ms. GhazalaNadeem accepted the privilege to judge this auspicious event.

Girls section hosted Elocution Contest on January 27, 2016. The students prepared for the contest keeping in mind the several factors which are adjudged during a competition. They focused on aspects like the culmination of voice quality, speech content and the delivery standards. The judges for the contest were Ms. AsifaNajeeb and Ms. Nadia Jafarey. As usual, it was a pleasure to watch our eloquent students conduct themselves in such a disciplined manner and render the enjoyable poems with such feeling and conviction.

The Singing Contest 2016 was hosted by the Junior B Section on January 28, 2016. Singing surely builds a child's self-esteem, promotes teamwork irrespective of age, gender and background, celebrates diversity, facilitates self-expression and is just plain fun. The competition was judged by Mr. Habib Hassan and Mr. Amir Tariq from the Regional Office. The participants were judged on their vocal skills, presentation skills and choice of material.

When children learn to write, a whole world of possibilities open up for them. They can put their thoughts down and create situations and stories that come from their imagination. Last but not the least, was the English and Urdu Story Writing Competition, which were held in all sections. This sure was a unique chance to encourage writers from all age levels to display their creative writing skills. Out of every two levels, four winners were selected.

Talent week has become a forum to gather a billion stars from the galaxy of The City School. This year too we have come across hidden talent and innate abilities of our students. They will outshine many and bring honour to the school in the years to come.
