The City School Darakhshan Campus, Prep Girls Section organised ‘Fun@ the Fair - Math Carnival 2017’ on Tuesday, 24th October 2017. The day-long event witnessed participation from over 400 students from Class 6 to 8. Mathematics is the "M" in STEAM. It is the language of science, technology, Art and engineering Carnival was aimed at inspiring the love for Mathematics and to help eliminate the fear of Math from young minds.
Students' involvement was the essence of the Carnival since the day it was initiated. Students were free to set up any stall they wish to include two food stalls and one game stall for their section. The plan was initially discussed and streamlined in math classes as Math project for the first term. Later, the responsibility was transferred to class teachers to ensure the smooth running of the carnival.
The carnival was highly appreciated and served the purpose for enhancing the mathematical skills of students along with the hidden curriculum for uplifting the values. Students demonstrated teamwork, leadership, cooperation, confidence, discipline, and respect throughout.
Students were assigned the post-carnival responsibility to calculate profit and loss statement for their respective stalls. 100% stalls earned the profit and the initial investment of the students was returned.
