                                                                Welcome and Important Information

Dear Parents/Guardians,
At the beginning of the new academic session 2017-2018 we anticipate a productive partnership with you to ensure our children can accomplish their utmost potential. We perceive the imperative significance of the relationship between teachers and parents and look for your wholehearted support.
Our education programme is entwined with an assortment of aptitude based exercises with the point of polishing abilities of the students through healthy interactions and holistic teaching approach.
We request you to kindly note the following details:

Section Details
1.       School gates will be closed at 8 am. Thereafter, no student/teacher/visitor will be allowed inside the campus. Parents are requested not to meet the teachers in the classrooms.
2.       The visiting hours of the Section are from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm – Monday to Thursday.(prior appointment is required). Please call to make an appointment at 021-35842293.
3.   Parents are requested to communicate with us through the homework diary in case of any query.
4.   Parents/Drivers are requested to bring the student’s ID card at dispersal time to avoid any inconvenience.
5.   Students are to be dressed properly in the specified pattern of school uniform.
6.  A team of teachers in rotation has been detailed separately to monitor the students in the school playground, canteen area, rear boundary wall and other sensitive areas during the recess / breaks and immediately after school hours. Teachers are also on duty  with the van students to ensure proper dispersal after the school gets over.
7.   Prep Girls will use Gate 2 only.                                  

Homework
A proper homework schedule is planned for the students according to the policy. The given homework will be the reinforcement of work done in the class/school. Parents are requested to guide the children to complete the tasks.

Assessment and Examination
The two major components of formal assessment in The City School are Examinations and Course work.

Examinations
Mid Year Examination held in the First Term and End of Year Examination held in the Second Term.                                 
Mid Year Repot comprises:-
Course work % 1st Term
Mid Year Exam %
Average % of the two

Mid Year Average percentage is carried forward to the End of Year Report.

End of Year Report comprises:-

Course work % 2nd Term
End of Year Exam %
Mid Year Average %
Average % of the three



Examinations are taken in all subjects from Class 6-8.
If a student misses a exam due to illness, a medical certificate must be provided. If the reason for absence is justified, the end of the term average wll be given. However, if the reason for absence is not justified, a mark of zero will be recorded for that exam. Re-exam will not be conducted.
Coursework
Course work will be assessed throughout the term and will consist of a combination of:

Written tests Students are given 03 days’ notice before a test.

Assessment of ongoing class work     Spread over the term
Course work marks are recorded in each student’s notebook on the last page. On the last Thursday of each month, all notebooks are sent to parents, who are required to check and sign all the notebooks in the topic index and test index on last page of all learning journals.
Marks are allotted for Course work in the following proportions:
All subjects
Class tests
Class work
Project work
Total
60 marks
20 marks
20 marks
100 marks
Islamiyat: 20 marks of the project will be replaced as oral work.
Promotion Policy
Students must meet the promotion criteria for next class.
Class 6: A student must achieve 50% overall and 50% in English and other two core subjects.
Class7-8: A student must achieve 60% overall and 60% in English and other two core subjects.
