Akhuwat is an NGO that aims at alleviating poverty in Pakistan by granting interest-free micro financing to the Pakistani community living below poverty line. Akhuwat Clothes Bank (ACB) is an extension of Akhuwat micro-finance operating with the same model and philosophy. ACB aspires to collaborate with The City School for a Clothing Drive to be held in all schools of its network. Akhuwat has 800 branches all over Pakistan and will be able to collect clothes and other household items from any location across Pakistan.

Akhuwat started the clothing drive to keep the cause alive. The City School Darakhshan Campus Prep Girls Section collected 244 dresses for the noble cause. Students were highly motivated by the management and teachers and donated presentable clothes washed and ironed. The dresses were separately packed and tagged with Gender and Age Group.

Mehfil-e-Milad Report

Prep Girls Section celebrated Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi on Tuesday, November 15, 2019 to rejoice the auspicious occasion of the Birth of Our Beloved Prophet (SAW). The celebration of the event provided a platform to gain confidence and enhance students’ capabilities to perform on stage. Ms. Qurat ul Ain, Ms. Umme Hani and Ms. Zeba Suboohi were the organizers of the event. A tribute to Holy Prophet (SAW) was paid by the students of all three levels. The preparations began two weeks prior to the event. A group of girls was selected to recite Durood at intervals. Students mesmerized the audience with their melodious voice. The narrators spoke about the attributes of the Holy Prophet in order to emphasize the importance following the Sunnah in our lives. The dress code of the participants added beauty to the event.

Magazine Reading: READERS DIGEST

Reader's Digest is an Asian general-interest family magazine, published ten times a year. ... The periodical has a global circulation of 10.5 million, making it the largest paid circulation magazine in the world. It is also published in Braille, digital, audio, and in a large type called Reader's Digest Large Print.

To culminate the interest of our students into current affairs and general knowledge, we circulated Readers Digest among our students with a task to complete the related worksheet. English periods were utilized for this purpose.

POETRY RECITATION

As the Book Week continues, Day 4 has been dedicated for Poetry Recitation by the participants of Urdu Elocution Contest 2019 held two weeks ago. The girls were given time to prepare for the recitation a week prior and wholeheartedly participated in the activity and mesmerized their peers. This activity also aimed to motivate the learners to gain confidence and develop the urge of developing their skills and discover their potential by watching their peers presenting.
